Help me please!
After winning with a skeleton/archmage i decided to roll something totally different. Vritra the Thalore antimagic cursed was born!

He's currently level 24 and up to Dreadfell (with only the Elf Ruins and Spellblaze left to do in the west). So far he's been powering along, but my first journey down (up?) the stairs of Dreadfell didn't go well. I was immediately set upon by an elder(?) vampire (or was it a lord?) and impending doomed. There were enough nasties around, and open space, that made it really hard to take down the vamp quickly, and i had to make a hasty retreat to the stairs before what would have been a most certain death.
I'm at a bit of a loss. How do i deal with this? I don't remember my archmage having any issues with doom, but he had a powerful ranged attack and probably strong magic resistance.
Any suggestions with my build and how to survive Dreadfell? I've been focusing on mobility so far and will move on to antimagic once i reach level 36 and can unlock fungus. In the meantime though?
EDIT: Just to add, my current strategy is to put my stat points into str/con/will each level, class points in sanctuary (for ranged defence) and generic points in unshackled (for saves) and thick skin (when i can). I'm not sure if that's optimal for the mid-game - this is my first cursed.

Re: The impending doom of Dreadfell
I would take the 4/5 in slash and put it into Sanctuary (if you have the will). The diminishing returns on the ability make it a 1/5 for my cursed usually, in the event you run into someone who can heal, you can always point swap 3 into it just to get the heal debuff. Also, you don't have a point in the silence aura yet? Take one out of *anywhere* and get that silence. The absolute best way to deal with impending doom is to silence the caster who has it, and then pound him in the face before the silence wears off.djc0 wrote:Any suggestions with my build and how to survive Dreadfell? Even at 1 point silence is good, but if you see a caster, point swap into it as much as you can for max effect silence, then go nuts. Big casters will be your main threat for the rest of the game, and silence at 4 fills the whole pride entrance area

Your build is excellent, pretty much exactly to what I did with my winner. Your magical/physical infusion will clear you of impending doom...so if you see an enemy who has the talent, keep the infusion for that effect alone.
Also, since you have Rampage, I would think the mobility infusion could be replaced with another wild, but that's just me. If you notice that magic effects are killing you, then stack two wilds to deal with it. I can't imagine that between Rampage and Surge you can't get away in a hurry anyways

Re: The impending doom of Dreadfell
Thanks for the advice. Especially the tip on silence. I've only just gone anti magic and hadn't thought much about it yet. I'll certainly move a point there ASAP though.
For my first trip in Dreadfell I had wild/physical+mental but replaced it after the near death experience with magical. Hopefully that will make a difference next time.
Good point about movement. Not having a teleport escape makes me nervous and I guess I've kept that in the pocket as a backup. But I haven't really used it. Perhaps another wild/magical, or even heroism, would serve better.

I tend to agree. Given Surge/Rampage/that runandhitthings talent in Slaughter (Fearless Charge or whatever it's called) mobility is not an issue for Cursed. A Heroism will likely pay off in the long run.
