Antimagic questions: spellhunt remnants, fungus

#1 Post by Mankeli »

Hi!

Two antimagic questions:

1) If I already have fungus tree (Wyrmic) then is there any reward from Myssil after defeating Urkis (assuming I'd go antimagic first, of course).

2) I didn't want to go antimagic with my Wyrmic because I wanted to compare how a two-hander melee arcane wyrmic compares with a two-hander melee antimagic cursed. However, now I've found Spellhunt remnants! I've heard that they are an extremely great pair of gloves to wear against spellcasters once they are at tier-5. Is this still the case?

They have a nice destroy magic ability but they truly shine when used unarmed. Having them in my brawler made the game really easy.
I think you could hit q to go to secondary weapon set and hit casters with them.
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

You can use Spellhunt remnants without going antimagic (and get its bonus from flexible combat). The only problem when using AM equipment and being magic is the potential fizzle of spells. With AM items, your magic sustains (like chant of fortitude) will crumble. But if you do not use sustains, there is no real problem. You can even use spells with AM equipment, but there is a risk of failure (30% IIRC). So do not count on healing light or on a shield rune in case of emergency. But most of the time if arcane eye or vision crumble, it is not a big problem...

Concerning the first question, if you already have fungus unlocked, the AM reward will be to increase your skills in the tree by 0.1.

You get a mastery bonus to the Fungus tree if you have it already.

Note that you don't need to go antimagic to wield the Spellhunt Remnants. They'll screw with your ability to cast spells and runes, obviously, but if you're only staying arcane for the equipment, you can mix and match to your heart's content.

Spellhunt remnants are cool for a few reasons.
- If you like them, you get them early, but can sacrifice your first junk T5 artifact to suddenly get usable t5 artifact gloves.
- They give a nice little boost to mindpower casters, if you're into that
- In the hands of a brawler, they do Bad Bad Things to magic-users. Not as good a general-purpose attack as some of the other options, but they shine in their area of specialty.

Once again, thanks for the info!

Unfortunately my character died. Well, one time and then I got pissed and asked Eidolon to release my character. I started a new wyrmic and luckily haven't found spellhunt remnants so the temptations of antimagicism are far lesser (as I spesifically wanted to play a character with fungus and arcane equipment)
