The "big spoiler" in Farportal explorations

#1 Post by Robsoie »

As you probably know, and if you don't, just quit reading because that's some big spoiler you may want to avoid until you discover it ...

When you use the Farportal of your fortress, it can happen that instead of sending you to some dungeon in another corner of the world, you're ending into , well something else.

In the past i ran into this mini event in my farportal attempts and got this :

(not using image tags to avoid spoiling the one whom would have clicked on this thread by accident ;) )

Then with my newly won character, and wielding the Staff of Absorption, and doing farportal run as there's nothing else left to do, i ran into that again.
And this time the dialogue changed, but to my disapointment only slightly, everything else played the same :

So a natural question : is it all there's to this encounter or are there something else to do ?

It's a mystery ;)

Have you re-read the murals with the staff in hand?

Until I hear a direct denial from DarkGod, it's a hint at an upcoming campaign. Unfortunately, it's not something substantial, yet. Just a mild hint at something lore related. Further hints can be located in the quest related to Slasul and the dragon. They hint that certain forces aren't gone, just... biding their time. Clearly, this encounter is one of them. Now, they're biding their time for... what exactly? We'll have to wait for him to create said campaign.

....After all the hints, I REFUSE to believe that it's not coming.

There are many other hints in other parts of the lore too. More is happening than what you see.

Yes, with my previous winners i had read the murals already, but i hoped then that if i managed to have that rare encounter again (i had it only once before on the hundred of farportals my characters have done), but this time while wielding the staff there would be some more piece of stories to read.
Considering the risk (farportal post-endgame at level 50 can be quite insane to survive and that encounter is really rare) there should be something else to read than only a few change of words in the dialogue.

Some more lore about the Sher'tul can be found in the infinite dungeon by the way (but only if you start as a separate game, as if you enter the ID in the main campaign, you will skip most of the floor, missing all the lore), each 10 levels, but surviving long enough to get all of them can be quite hard ;)

In anycase dont hold your breath. I think i read darkgod is currently working on orc campaign point of view (lets name it... GARKUL'S DISCIPLES). Wouldnt be surprised if it is years in the making...(lets name it ..the SHERKUL CONSPIRACY).. i have no idea of darkgod's work schedule regarding TOME.
