Unlocking Mental Tyranny

#1 Post by Un67 »

Is there a good way to fulfill the mind damage requirement on something like a Mindslayer that has no intrinsic way to deal mind damage? As far as I can understand, you're supposed to whack weak mobs with your mindstars, but that seems like a good way to slowly drive a person insane. (Though that would fit the theme...)

High-tier Mindblast torques. Loremaster escort Mind Sear reward. As you said, Mindstars (if you buy the psiblade tree in Zigur, or get it as an alchemist escort betrayal reward, it can make the damage on mindstars quite respectable). A hard-hitting weapon with mind damage conversion. Certain artifact powers, such as that diadem that does lobotomies.

I've never had a problem unlocking Mental Tyranny on mindslayers. Note that equipping a mind damage mindstar to your TK slot means that you're racking up mind damage whenever you're adjacent to the enemy. Also, minslayers (particularly lower level mindslayers) get a fair amount of mileage out of bonus damage on hit (they have three weapons rather than two, and one of them swings whether you're paying attention to it or not) and there's a decent amount of +mind on hit out there. Mind damage when hit also adds to the total.

Worth noting that mindslayers can actually be a fairly solid autodamage melee character in the early to middle game. You don't have the gear to mindlash all the time, but you do have shields, auras, and an autofiring weapon slot - and you were going to get all of those talents anyway.
