Missing NPC

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello!

I entered this halfling ruin cave.
At the bottom I open a door and spot two BOSSLIKE NPCs.
One Subject Z and one more. A yeek? (I didnt check good enough)
After a fight I had to retreat, but during the fight there was explosions and teleports and only darkgod knows what.
After I got rid of Subject Z, the other purple NPC is gone.
Did I do something wrong?

I can not enter the tunnel down.
Do I miss something?

Tom

PS If this is spoily, pls ignore the questions or perhaps some Mod can move the thread to spoilers.
Thank you.

Pretty spoiley but suffice it to say sometimes npcs can kill each other. It's possible your other dude is dead.

You get rewarded for saving that npc, but it has no effect on the storyline of the game.

One of the rewards will effect all future games, however, so you'll want to do that part again on a future character.

Rescuing the Yeek Wayist from Subject Z will improve your mental saves and confusion resistance, and will also unlock the Yeek race.

Rescuing the Yeek Wayist as a Yeek will unlock the Mindslayer class.

Rescuing the Yeek Wayist as a halfling will result in a hostile Yeek Wayist.

Darn.
I should have taught him a lesson if he tried!

Yeah, if you were playing a halfling, you didn't miss anything. Subject Z merely saved you the bother of having to kill the yeek yourself.

Has this been changed recently? My halfling archer killed Subject Z, but while I was fighting the Wayist helped out by attacking and distracting Z. And I think my mental save has gone up as well.

I hijack the thread to avoid starting a new one...

Is the tunnel at the bottom of the halfling ruins functional? Last time I tried the game told me I turned back. Should I give it a try later? Or is it just there to tell me there's an Island of Rel...

The Wayist will not turn hostile to halflings until after Subject Z's been dealt with. And the mental save bonus isn't subtle--there's a chat that goes along with it--so you'd know for certain if you'd succeeded.

As for the tunnel to Rel, you can't use it unless your character has already used it from the other side. To say more would be spoiling things.
