My last two characters lost all their remaining lives in zones where I was not allowed to choose 'C' upon death (respawn outside). I'm totally fine with dying once and then escaping with option C when I encounter something that is too risky, but when I can't do that, I feel a little bit cheated and annoyed. After all, extra lives are the most valuable resource.
Could someone please either:
a. describe how to identify when I'm about to enter a zone like this, or
b. Provide a list of zones like this
Thanks!
Which zones don't allow escape upon death?

Which zones don't allow escape upon death?
Do you want your possessions identified? [ynq]
Re: Which zones don't allow escape upon death?
Worst offenders, to my last recollection, were the Temporal Rift (including Epoch's Plane) and the last level of the Crypt of Kryl'Feijan. It's unfortunate because both are deathtraps.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: Which zones don't allow escape upon death?
All the random level in the farportal zone...
Why can't TOME 4 has a secret room where you can represent game bugs as, well, enemies you can crush like in Divine Divinity? That would be cool...
Re: Which zones don't allow escape upon death?
Yeah, the farportals should ideally allow escape - they're quite dangerous enough as is given that you have no real idea what you'll be facing, and it's usually bad.
The uber-death trap nature of not being able to escape on a rez makes them generally counter-productive to play unless you are incredibly confident in your build (in which case, why are you scumming farportals?)

Re: Which zones don't allow escape upon death?
It seems like this is a game mechanic that could be eliminated. When playing Adventure mode, the loss of a life is a tragedy already; there's no good reason to torture the player by permadeathing him in one of these zones.
My last character to die in one of these lost 7 lives in one sitting. I didn't think "Wow, what a great challenge, I can't wait to try that again with my next guy", I thought "That was complete BS. I worked hard to not die the whole game and then got screwed. I'm NEVER going to that zone again."

The Dark Crypt is a no-escape zone!? Didn't know that...
Good thing my last two characters heading through there were pretty buff. My shadowblade even managed to rescue the sacrifice.
Still I'll have to bear that in mind in the future.

Only, if memory serves, on the last floor. I can't think of any reason why, either. Maybe the quest used to work differently.Vastin wrote:The Dark Crypt is a no-escape zone!? Didn't know that...![]()
