Greetings.
My archer is doing well.
So far High Peak has been much easier than expected.
Ok, I lost my last spare life from the ring. (playing rogue style)
But that was a silly mistake and not really anything I should not have managed.
On lvl 8 something suddenly turns tough.
The whole lvl is cleared except a huge vault in the middle.
A circular route is going around the vault and that route is good when I teleport away from this....
.... named Runed Bone Giant.
He is absolutely wild.
I can not see him.
My arrows seems to miss all of them. I suppose he has slow motion and some shields.
He casts fire and a lot of nasty area effects.
He casts lightning and time prison so the screen rolls several screen with several POFF SLASH THUM scroll scroll scroll
But I do not take damage.
My premonition shield is cast several times during all this mess.
And I try to pin, stun, slow and all I can think of.
But as I do not see the bugger it is hard to estimate if I even scratch him.
I assume he heals like mad too when I must teleport away.
My two shields have over 600+hp, but they crumble almost immidiately.
There has to be a way to deal with this bloke.
Any suggestion?
High Peak lvl 8.

Run around him and go up the stairs?

Re: High Peak lvl 8.
Is that an optional boss? If yes, just ignore him and move to the next level...
Re: High Peak lvl 8.
That is an option I did consider, but it is quite boring, is it not?tiger_eye wrote:Run around him and go up the stairs?
Not to mention I have to leave the whole vault behind.
But maybe that is my best option.
The vaults in high peek have all been quite useless so far.
Re: High Peak lvl 8.
I Hate to surrender.
So I'm still there trying for options to deal with this giant.
First thing I did, and should have done before was wearing See Invisible items.
I took on a ring +14 (green copper) and Crown of Elements +15.
This took me to +29 and suddenly I saw a few invisible orc wizards that I got rid of.
A second runed bone giant was there too, but with no name and 'only' yellow text.
He also bit the dust.
Now this named giant is the problem.
5K of hit points and absolutely wild.
At +29 See Invisible I sometimes see the guy.
At least I got to see what he has.
Anyone has an idea what my best shot might be?

Re: High Peak lvl 8.
This seems to be an Arcane Blade / Archmage bone giant.
The spells it casts are pretty strong as you already noticed.
Deal damage to it, then it should activate bone armor. Look how long the duration is, then run away until it wears off.
As soon as that happens, try to burst it down as fast as possible. It has disruption shield, so it will lose mana instead of hp from damage taken.
The good news is that it will be far weaker without mana, the other news is that the disruption shield will most likely deal massive arcane damage once it goes off, so be prepared for it. If you are lucky it will deal a good amount of damage to the bone giant, but in any case it will disable all sustains making the fight easier from there on.
If it has mana regeneration runes this will be harder.

Re: High Peak lvl 8.
Would be interesting to hear how the battle went. Don't take unneccesarry risks when you're so close to winning!
Re: High Peak lvl 8.
Does it regenerate? If it does, I'd say it hopeless. You are not likely kill it in one assault. If it doesn't - what's your attack? If you have cap/helm of ire you can try use battlecry to lower it's attack
