Zigur and anti-magic.

#1 Post by Lord Blade »

So... if I do the arena thing in Zigur... that means I can NEVER use any magical items again?
Like, the artifacts, which make up pretty much everything I'm wearing?

That doesn't sound like a good deal.
What uber powers do they give you in return?

The artifact sword I've been using is doing double the damage of any other weapon I've found so far.
Why would I want to gimp myself?

Just because an item is colored doesn't define it is magical in Tome. Every item has a power source. If you go anti-magic you can no longer use items powered by Arcane forces. You can still use items crafted by a master, powered by nature, or powered by unknown forces. You also get access to a few artifacts that are powered by arcane-disrupting forces and are only available to anti-magic characters.

Well, definitely doesn't seem worth it to me.
I'd be giving up far too much. And the game's hard enough to survive as it is. :p

Just did a check... I'm currently wearing ONE item that's not powered by Arcane.

It's partly a special challenge, though the benefits can be nice, especially against the many casters in the late game.

Yeah, long term it's a very viable strategy. My only win to date was partially because of anti-magic. Once you get to the later half of the game many many enemies will throw nasty spells.

I love Antimagic and the Slime category that you can get. Magic-users are always the ones that kill me (lots in the Far East) and I always get the farthest with an antimagic character.

Consider it sometime, especially if you are a Wyrmic or Summoner.

Being an antimagic fan myself. I would like to point that some classes would have a tougher time getting the WIL high enough to use the antimagic talents. This way you can end up with sub optimal damage or (even) lower hit points. I've tried that with an archer, just to find a random boss that used vaporize - that doesn't respect the Aura of Silence - to OHKOed me.
