Radiant horror.

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello!

This Radiant horror is a damn joke.
I zap him with my wand so his healings and barrier go on cooldown.
I silence him with my blade.
Now I finally have him.

*bah*

After two moves silence out (of a 10% chance)!
Then the cooled down healing spells are casted.
This is a joke, right?
*grrr*

Code: Select all

newEntity{ base = "BASE_NPC_HORROR",
	name = "radiant horror", color=colors.GOLD,

	level_range = {35, nil}, exp_worth = 1,
	rarity = 8,
	rank = 3,
	autolevel = "caster",
	max_life = resolvers.rngavg(220,250),

	resolvers.talents{

		[Talents.T_HEALING_LIGHT]={base=10, every=15},
		[Talents.T_BARRIER]={base=10, every=15},
	},
The talents. They are better than yours.

Yer damage seems a little low for radiant horror bustin', mostly. Come back with more dakka... or physical penetration. Or run like a little pansy man, coward. Last option probably best option, really, if you can't basically insta-drop the buggers.

Three hours of hard play to bring him down.
Absolute wild.

The Rod of Annulment is bugged btw.
I zapped him and it stated that 'barrier' was disrupted (together with healing light and some other light).
I assume it is put on cooldown as the description on the rod says so.
But two moves, no more no less later, he shoots up the barrier shield.
I assume that barrier does have more than 2 moves of cooldown, right?

One more oddity.
I attacked him I do not know how many times.

My hope was SILENCE, STUN and The Rod.
I silenced him which, when I hit him with the 10% chance, did silence him for 2-3 moves.
It seemed to me that he ran away beeing silenced.

So when he came around the corner, I did Flurry him hoping for a silence.
If that happened, I pounced him again until (movement if he ran) there was one move left of the silence.
Then I did stun.
And he was stunned alright.
But when I kept on beating him, he started to fire up healing spells and barrier spells.
When I get stunned, my talents and everything (but teleportation) gets red.
Why did not his stuff become red and unusable?

The rod of annulment puts things on cooldown for 3 - 5 turns. The actual cooldown of the talent doesn't mean anything for purposes of this effect.

Radiant horrors are fun! Especially when you get the vault when you get one surrounded by luminous horrors. Had that happen to a zerker once... unfortunately for them, they didn't have 100% resist physical and couldn't get through Bloodthirst talents + Regen infusion
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

The trick against these horrors is playing around providence. Wait for providence to end and then stun them, or do whatever you do to kill stuff.

Providence has a short cooldown and lasted for 13 moves or something. And he also had healing light and barrier.
Coupled with potent, but not instant deadly, light damage.
And my stunning of him, did not stop him from casting his defensive spells.
I used the twins against him first, but they did not cut as his resistances vs physical are so high.
So I swapped to Silent Blade and a elemental damage dagger.

I even tried a very cheesy tactic.
I spitted poison at him, and teleported away immidiately in the hope that he would not heal up if I was not in sight.
That worked for a while. From 1300+ hp down to 1000.
But when I returned next time he was healed up to max health again.
I was going to attack him very close to that point as I got a equilibrium warning, but when he healed up I let that go.
Very very sad, one of theese escorts died. Spit poison (3) would have been good. The talent runs on DEX.

This game I found a white stratelite dagger.
My first ever as rogue.
But now, ofcourse, I do not have the gem, so that was not possible either.

As a rogue you'd probably need to wait for his prov to drop, hit him with one of your stuns (might be of benefit to not fight without dual strike and dirty fighting together), hit with the other if the first didn't work, flurry as often as possible and use the rod of annulment if both stuns are still on cooldown. You'd also want a vile dagger of some sort. But yeah, rogue vs. radiant horror isn't exactly my idea of fun, even with vile dagger + insidious and crippling poisons going.
