Rewarding Failure? Paradox Mage unlock

#1 Post by edge2054 »

Not sure if this is an oversight or how you intended it DG but the paradox mage unlock is only happening when you let your future self kill you (which kinda sucks imo, holding down 5 to get an unlock seems backwards).

*coughs* Well, it is a bigger paradox to have your future self kill you than it would be for you to kill your future self. I mean, if you die then he never existed and so couldn't have killed you. But yeah, would be nice if we had a way to accidentally eat dust to dusts or echoes from the past from him while we both fought something, something like that to allow for future self accidentally killing present self.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

I was delving the .luas wondering about this (since I killed my future self thinking I'd get the unlock anyway). The achievements make reference to a PARADOX_FULL in which you killed both your future self and your past self. It's not clear to me how you go about that, but what it seemed to imply was that you would enter the rift that your future self was trying to keep you out of and somehow end up in the past - intercepting your younger self. The paradox unlock would then come from you (actively playing the "future" self this time) killing your past self, the one that was initially killed by you to get to this point.

But I could be misinterpreting things. Is it possible to meet and kill your past self somewhere, given that you meet your future self at the rift? Maybe from a rare anomaly?

I think Paradox Full comes from doing the quest a second time on another character. There's no anomaly that does anything like that (the anomalies aren't player specific since npcs use them too).

I still can not unlock Paradox Mage - I let myself be killed and nothing happens (seems I was killed by some critter).Afterwards I was just stand near paradox mage but he did nothing and got killed by anomaly elementals.

This. I wanted him to kill me, but he just sat there.
