Requesting guidance on paradox mage unlock

#1 Post by Snarvid »

Topic. I see them in the vault - someone want to toss me a clue? Do I just do back to the future with a temporal warden, or something else?

[COULD BE ENTIRELY WRONG] (as I unlocked paradox magi with a text editor 2-3 versions before there was an in-game unlock)

But. From what I've been able to gather, you go into the temporal rift (that place you unlocked wardens) as a warden. Somewhere in there, will be a copy of yourself from the future. Let it kill you. UNLOCK.

I'm not entirely sure, though. I've not tried it yet.

Or chronomancer_paradox_mage = true. *whistles innocently*

My TW blew itself up on Urkis cuz I forgot to slap on stun resist gear and other appropriate Urkis-crushing stuff, but the zone.lua file for Daikara says you probably go to the Paradox Plane zone, instead of the normal Temporal Rift zone. In any case there's an if-else statement for TWs there.

You guys sure write tiny. It's like you don't want people to see something that your writing about... hmmmm...

Right now my temporal wardens are buggy like mad (can't use paradox adjusting ability without grey screen of badness), so it looks like I'll have to delay the unlock. Thank you for the advice, though. I'm really looking forward to the zaniness of the paradox mage.

We are in spoilers, there is no need to write in tiny letters...

After having successfully unlocked this class, I'm only gonna say this about the chat you see before unlocking:

... What the...

The unlock is kinda bugged. It's way easier then it's supposed to be but you're also missing out on half the quest and a chance at a nice bow.

In other words, there's supposed to be a couple of real fights, not the encounter, BAM unlock thing some of us have been seeing.

*edit* And it should be fixed on the SVN and for next beta.

AHHH. Was kinda wondering what happened after seeing lots of nasty spells being cast by future-me, dying-yet-not, and getting the unlock.

Yeah, ditto. Just got the unlock, thought maybe it was from the fact that I had to have played through from another game in order to unlock the temporal warden and that somehow this was yet a third alternate timeline version of me and shattering reality.

"It's a bug" wins the Occam's Razor competition, though.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that in the current build you don't actually go to Eidolon and lose a life when you get killed, in case people had higher difficulty mode Temporal Wardens they weren't willing to sacrifice for the unlock.
