At this point something can be Mental, Physical, Magical, Steam, Unknown, Psionic, or Nature (Possibly others), with virtually all disads being Mental, Physical, or Magical (since usually those are the only ones you can get a counter for). I 'think' the color coding (purple, reddish, yellowish) is usually supposed to hint which type they are, but it's not always the most clear and some people are colorblind anyway. And for special clears like 'Clears Nature or Psionic' can be extra unclear.
Currently for most Sustains you can find:
Is: A spell
Is: A mental power
which helps a ton.
Presently the character screen description for a disad/buff:
<Name> (and hover over)
Desc
Could the hover over instead be sort of like:
<Type(s)> - <Name> : <existing desc> <Current Length>
That way, just like talents, it'd be easy to quickly go over them, and see what type of heal effect would be needed to clear it as well as not having the detailed desc of it lack how many turns remaining. Basically there's no one place to look for any beneficial or harmful effect to see all of the detail and as such a big element in the game, that'd be really nice.
Folks memorize effects, but mostly have to go hover over their char (as they're probably doing most turns) and then pull up the char screen to get the rest but neither place has Effect, Type, Name, and Length together so two UIs and a color have to be read to answer. The color info isn't even on the char sheet view (which just uses red or green, with red already used in the other ui for physical).
