werecreatures (race and monsters and nation)

#1 Post by bta »

I found a "werebeast" headgear and was surprised to realize we don't have werewolves, werespiders, werebunnies,... nothing. Hmm, no felines either, odd. Where are they? Irresistible pun, apologies. Without getting too complicated, I think they should be stronger, faster and vulnerable to light (because silver would add another layer of complexity to a game that has enough complexity).

It would be great to have to survive an encounter with a were-boss to unlock the werebeast playable race.

Imagine a were-turtle with an eyepatch, obviously a pirate wannabe. Oops, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, been there, done that.

getting the werebeast disease would be inconvenient, your armor does not fit anymore and Zigur doesn not love you anymore.

I don't know about the latter, it sounds more like getting cursed. That results in Hate, not magic.

i imagine being born with lycanthopy would be very different than becoming infected with it. For instance, racial talents for a lycanthop would be fully functional and a dwarf afflicted with lycanthopy would have partially disabled dwarven talents.

If lycanthropy is implemented as an infection, it would allow a terrible monster to enter the game: the weredwarf. In everyday life he seems to be a normal dwarf, but when the moon is full his skin bursts open and he transforms into a.. dwarf. :o

You will run, but there will be no escape.

there's a lot of things referenced throughout the lore that don't show up in game yet crystalomancers, shields maidens, properly trained spell blades.

werebeasts well that might explain the abundance of snakes with guns and other weird wildlife.
transformation is more complete but less inhibiting.
