Prompt for Abandoning Escorts

Miscellaneous escort hatred aside
I have a disagreement that stems from the combination of two facts.
  1. Leaving the level causes the escort quest to immediately fail, saying you abandoned the escort to their doom. Fine, makes sense.
  2. During an escort quest, if you attempt to rest (or auto-explore, presumably), the game will prompt you to confirm whether you want to do this lest the escort wander off into a pack of enemies. That's actually good, but it begs the question...
Why is there no prompt for leaving the level during an escort quest? Please add one.

I definitely killed escorts because i pressed autoexplore/rest, i do not have that prompt.
