The Assassin Lord

The dialogue you get when siding with the Assassin Lord (a terrible choice by the way), seems to imply that the assassin lord has another quest for you.
Well, I need somebody to replace the men you killed. You look sturdy; maybe you could work for me.
You will have to do some dirty work for me, though, and you will be bound to me. Nevertheless, you may make quite a profit from this venture, if you are as good as you seem to be.
And do not think of crossing me. That would be... unwise.

Will this ever be implemented?

Grayswandir wrote a pretty good addon that follows up on this. Adds another zone and boss to the game where you clear out a fortress and turn it into a base for the AL, which unlocks merchant randarts albeit at a higher price. So your choice is between rescuing and potentially affording another artifact later, or siding with AL and getting extra loot from the bonus zone/boss. If I get around to it I'm going to see about it getting merged with the main game but as this was like 3 versions ago a bunch of stuff is probably broken so it's a fair bit of work.

If I get around to it I'm going to see about it getting merged with the main game
