Remove Encumbrance

Probably a pretty controversial suggestion, but why even have encumbrance in the game? There's already the transmo chest (it doesn't take a turn to transmo a specific item).
In my eyes, this "feature" just wastes time and annoys players

Add maximum encumbrance aura in the fortress. Allow using rod of recall to go to the fortress when over encumbered.

Maybe change Feather Wind to give a temporary maximum encumbrance buff in case it gets deactivated. And add maximum encumbrance on the world map.

No Encumbrance is the addon if you want to exclude encumbrance from play.

don't go full Crawl route, plz ;_;
it's already too streamlined since there is no item identification or food clock (a feature that many Crawl players want removed as well...)

I saw a video of a really old version before the steam release, where item identification was a thing, though some races and classes had a special item identification talent.

Anyway, there's more than one way to go about things, like in more recent Spiderweb Software games they kept encumbrance, but it only counts things you are wearing.
