Change Demon Horns to Give Stamina Instead of Life

Demonologists lack a way to restore stamina. Accordingly, demonologists quickly cannot do anything other than bump in longer battles, making the class less fun to play. I suggest that Demon Horns provide a way to restore stamina. Use the same mechanic it currently has, but make the skill cost only vim and restore stamina instead of life on follow up hits. This would require the demonologist to score follow up hits, thus not being a simply get out of fatigue free card. Demonologists already have Suffuse Life to regain life, as well as a number of defensive skills, so this change would not eliminate demonologist's ability to regain life.

I don't know what stamina leech value would be appropriate, but I assume something along the lines of 20 to 40 per hit based on talent level + spellpower would be good.

I don't think giving it both life and stamina restoration would be too overpowered.
However, the issues I see are a) this won't come online until level 12 at the earliest and b) this would tie your stamina regeneration to a resistable bleed effect. Late game you do have the option of stamina restoring demon seeds, although I'm unsure if these are a particularly viable choice.
A potential other option would be causing Osmosis Shield to restore stamina equal to a small % of the life regeneration at TL5. Easy way to give in-combat regen from an early stage.

My choice of a level 12 skill was to follow the example of archer's "Relaxed Shot", which is also level 12. I have found, even on insane, stamina regeneration at low levels is not completely necessary. I understand your point about the limiting factor of Demon's Shield's bleed save. Perhaps make it a darkness damage over time effect instead of a bleed that requires a save vs spell?

As for whether it should regenerate life as well or not, I do not have any experience balancing skills in ToME, so I do not have an immediate sense about whether this would be overpowered or not. I guess if the skill cost only vim and offered stamina and life, it would begin to approximate doombringer's Surge of Power skill with the downside of requiring a successful hit, save vs spell and subsequent hits. While this skill may then offer more stamina/life recovery than Surge of Power, it would only over several terms and with much more effort.

What demon seeds offer stamina regeneration? I only know of the ones that offer ways of restoring vim.

Seems I'm mistaken about the seeds. I think I was remembering their effects during beta, where one of the higher level seeds offered stamina regen rather than vim regen. As the ring seeds are currently identical at each tier, perhaps having one restore vim and one restore stamina might be sensible.

A magic-type darkness DoT would probably be fine, even if you had to change the fluff a little. I don't have the code to hand at the moment but it might be that it doesn't check bleed resist anyway, so that would matter less. But yes, I think a bleed ignoring darkness DoT that restores life/stamina would fit demo fine.
