Rather than having it be curing magic statuses(which is generally questionable, and which Acid Waves are certainly better at overall), the effect could reasonably be "Shorten all Physical/Magical/Mental status effects by X turns.
I'd suggest a base of 3 and a cap of 6 turns for this. It would make them an interesting sidegrade to Wilds.
