new Race: Elf halfblood
Born from the union of a Higher and a Shalore, the halfblood mix the strength of the humans and the arcane attuning of the elves.
Stats:
+3 STR
+3 MAG
+1 CON
-2 DEX
life per level: 10
20% exp penalty
racial skill tree:
- Energy Channel:
By focusing his raw magical energy, the player can strike for extra arcane damage based on a percentage of your weapon damage for the next few turns. Starting from level 3, it gains a burst radius of (talent level-2)
the damage scales with spell power and talent level.
- Iron body:
your mixed body traits make you very resistant to external influence, granting you resistance against detrimental effects.
Every time a negative effect is applied on you, there's a chance to reduce it's duration based on talent rank.
- Spontaneous block:
your latent magic power combined with your physical skills allow you to instinctively try everything you can to avoid a fatal blow.
When you are hit for more than a set percentage of your hp, you first create a damage shield using all of your stamina and magic resource (with the due adjustments).
Cannot occur more than once every 20-ish turns.
- Finishing blow:
Put all of your body and soul into your strongest hit.
Hit an enemy once. All of your talents go on cooldown, and for every one of them you gain bonus damage based on rank and tier of the talent.
The attack cannot miss.
Basically i wanted a race for hybrid classes like paladin and reaver, what are your opinions?

Would need to see what your racial talents are before this means anything. Base stat tweaks don't matter.

We'd also need official confirmation that races can cross-breed. It's a common theme in fantasy worlds, but not 100% and I actually like that ToME doesn't have it. Maybe make this a new race that was the results of magically-enabled crossbreeding experiments in the Age of Allure.

Tolak, the king of Last Hope is half Human, half Halfling.
The suggested stats here are puzzling. We don't have an Int stat, and it isn't clear where the +3 Str comes from.

I assume Int is Magic.
Anyhow, Housepet is correct in saying it is hard to determine where the stats are coming from - specifically since Higher pretty well have bonuses in everything but Constitution and Cunning while Shalore have higher Magic, Willpower and Cunning stats then Higher but less Strength.

Not overly, but its a better basis than fitting a race to fit fighter/mage stats.

About halfbreeds; Tolak is the exception; nobody knows how it was possible to conceive him. No other halfbreed between any races has ever been seen.

That stats still seem off to me. Strength shouldn't be very high - at least not past +1, and Dexterity should be 0 or positive if this is a Higher/Shalore Half Breed since neither have negative Dexterity stats.
In terms of racials I don't think Race Talents should have a strong offensive properties attached to them; it should be more supportive
Like instead of striking with Energy Channel, it activates when you are struck instead and then have it go on Cooldown.
Iron Body looks more or less fine I guess, you essentially can shrug off detrimental effects without Unflinching Resolve.
Spontaneous block sounds more detrimental then beneficial - unless it only occurs when you are fatally hit.
Finishing Blow is again, offensive, and I have no recommendations for how to save it.

Well, at least it sparked a discussion. I prefer to focus on gameplay first, the lore behind choices can be tailormade in a second moment. The whole point is, i'd love to have the possibility to choose a race that fit the mix of magic and fighting. About skills being too aggressive, we have already a lot of supportive ones so i don't see why trying something different is bad, personal opinion of course. For the damage shield, i may have been too vague, it was meant to be one of those "instead of taking a fatal hit"

Would be possible, lore wise, to have a corrupted human?
Let's say that some mad corruptor tried the Melinda experiment before, so we could have an articial mix of human and demon? In that case the over the top strength and magic affinity would be justified, along with the unearthly resistance to body afflicting effects
