The Maze - Alternate Version
When you get the alternate version of The Maze, you have to jump down those cracks in the floor. It's super annoying that the default option is Jump instead of Leave. Especially when auto-explore will sometimes force you into the dialogue.
And it was such a good idea...

Yeah my ideal interface would be:
- Auto-explore takes you AROUND the cracks until;
- "There is no place left to explore" never happens, instead you're taken to the nearest crack and asked about jumping in.
Also, please put the teleport circle at the bottom, otherwise it's impossible to clear without the Rod of Recall (so "Leave the Big Boys Alone" becomes impossible if you jump once).

Re: The Maze - Alternate Version
I always thought there should be a "The Only Way Out Is Through" achievement for killing the guy at the bottom of the alternate maze as your first boss kill, but that's me. If there is a teleport circle down there, that achievement becomes no longer pertinent.

That sort of achievement would be a very interesting one, I think. I'm in favour of it, at any rate.
The UI for going through the Alt-maze isn't entirely logical, I'll agree. Though leaving the level is an option, albeit not a favourable one, with the actual achievement on the line. And I doubt omitting the Horned Horror is a preferable option either...
Although I've never seen it force me into a hole. It might ask, but never jumps without confirmation.

Re: The Maze - Alternate Version
I believe there are already a number of them - "Kicking it old school" should be the one for Urkis, though I don't recall the others.

I'd be cool with that, then if you got alt.maze you just don't go for the "Big Boys" one.Sirrocco wrote:I always thought there should be a "The Only Way Out Is Through" achievement for killing the guy at the bottom of the alternate maze as your first boss kill, but that's me. Re: The Maze - Alternate Version
The game runs into the crack if it's on the exploration path. Highly annoying, but you CAN just step around and hit z again to let it follow its chosen path. The "jump" tiles should ideally be marked impassible to the exploration code and not elsewhere. The exploration code is quite well advanced as it is, though I'd like to see some refinements like not auto-avoiding water when you DO have water-breathing.Doctornull wrote:Yeah my ideal interface would be:
