Replace shrugging off/ignoring crits with crit resistance

I don't like that enemies can randomly completely nullify critical hits. It is so annoying. And I thought my crits weren't working because this mechanic wasn't obvious.

Instead of that mechanic, I propose replacing it with a stat called crit resistance. Each percent of that will reduce the damage gain from critical attacks by 1 percent. This will allow enemies/players to reduce damage of nasty critical hits, while keeping them relevant.

I agree and have incorporated this into my high level addon. The effect is to create a contest between critical multiplier and crit resistance, which scales much better to high levels than a flat percentage.

The other weird thing about the current system is that it's based on dex, but affects all crits, including those from spells and mind attacks. It would make more sense to have crit resistance for physical crits provided by dex, with cunning giving mental crit resistance and magic giving spell crit resistance.

Sort of an inverse Crit Modifier that would work on all crits(without reducing them below 100% of the original damage)?

Sounds good. More useful to the player, I like the idea.

That's a really good idea.

If something like this was implemented, I'd vote for willpower giving mental crit resistance and constitution giving spell crit resistance.

The change was added because Dex is a weak stat, relatively.

I don't really see that that part of the idea has changed. Having said that, if thematics are a question, Dex still makes logical sense for mitigating magical crits. Mind crits work for me, but if that's a worry, I'd suggest moving that to Cunning, another stat that doesn't have as much impact as you'd think(Cunning from 10 to 60 represents around 15% crit rate and a relatively poor Mindpower bonus), and a thematic stat for it.

I am going to be using your mod for that feature alone. ;)
