Specialize Note from Necromancer lore for necromancers

#1 Post by Planetus »

In the undead starter region, there is a series of lore items called note from the Necromancer. One of these lore items makes special mention of your class. I would like it if this note were specialized if the character were a necromancer himself, with some recognition that you are a member of the same profession as the Necromancer. I doubt it would be pity or regret of any kind, but perhaps some kind of gloating comment about a 'failed rival', and something about it being especially apt that you become his minion.

The text currently reads:
Fate smiles upon me. What did I come across today but the body of an unfortunate {CLASS}? Unfortunate indeed, but rather fortunate for me. The body displays next to no decomposition... it shall be perfect! With this new minion and the cloak of deception, the completion of my project is all but assured. I must prepare for the ritual... my dark menagerie shall soon have a new member.
It simply fills in whatever class you are. I was hoping if you were a necromancer, it would add something like:
"Hah, what dark justice, that one of my miserable rivals should become my newest minion."

If this is practical coding-wise, there's no reason not to extend it to other classes. Such scraps of lore are easy to write, and it is always nice to have a personalised experience.

If it's practical coding wise, I see much more justification for a special reaction to a fellow necromancer than to anything else. While I suppose we could have a specialized reaction to each class, I'm not sure it makes as much sense.

"Justification" is heavily subjective. I imagine, for example, that necromancers have pretty strong opinions about their Angolwen brethren (and vice versa). And celestials recognise the glorious power of darkness, but then use it for the greater good. of all things. Or what of chronomancers? Are you telling me that the art of controlling time means nothing to one who would sacrifice everything for immortality? Come to that, necromancers are people too, in the end. Why should they not be entitled to entertaining opinions on matters not directly pertaining to their profession? Or, if that is too radical, why not have them contemplate the minion potential of different classes of corpse.

In this as in all things, justification is solely a matter of sufficient imagination.
