buff Through the Crowd

#1 Post by jinsediaoying »

Through the Crowd is surely one of the most uncompetitive prodigies. It is pretty much designed for Summoner and Necromancer, but it is just too uncompetitive compare to the other choices that those two have. Summoner usually stand distant from the frontline, while Necromancer have too many choices, such as Blighted summoning, Crafty Hand, Endless Woe, or Cauterize etc.
idea:
change the name of prodigy to something like 'Death March' or something better (cannot think out better name...). Based on the original swap speed buff, this prodigy also provide addtional movement speed to all the minions based on the master's dex, at least (1*dex). This won't be overpowered since both Summoner and Necromancer do not have dex as a main stat.

I'd like to suggest that this Prodigy allows you to cast spells past your own creatures, without damaging them.
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

Would that enable me to summon through LoS behind my exsting summons? Cause Yeah, sux to have a great spot to summon your critters but the drakeling is blocking it.

Boss, in the likely event you use the same code that is used by the Necromancer's Nightfall tree i wonder if you realise that spell procs trigger on pets that 'safe' spells pass through? It's particularly noticeable with meteoric crash, which nullifies that nightfall (and thus this prodigy) advantage by both going on cooldown and destroying entire minion packs. In fact the only way around it is to avoid meteoric crash and all on spell hit gear entirely, which is a bit of a shame.

(not just proccing on things on the other side of minions, which would be expected behaviour - but on each minion they pass through 'safely')

If you know about it and have left it on purpose then fair enough and it may as well be consistent - this will now be a very interesting option if you carefully avoid all those procs! It just seemed to me an odd behaviour you may not have caught.

Does this prodigy allow minions to shoot through themselves without harm? Otherwise it's even more worthless than it was (that's something...) seeing as it would only be useful for very specific Necro minionmancers, and even then only affecting some of their spells, and even then, I would say it's nowhere near other options.
Summoners don't cast any spells, bomb explosion don't hurt friendlies anyway. If Hydra could shoot over other pets, maybe it would finally be worth considering (would fix positioning problem and this worthless acid cloud from Arrival).

erm... 'even more worthless than it was'? Unless my reading comprehension is failing i believe this functionality was added without changing the position swapping. Added functionality definitively cannot make the prodigy less useful. It sounds good for any pet necro with lich (90% of them) too, not just 'very specific' ones - it's pretty annoying being able to shoot nightfall over the pets but not star fury. This boost reads good enough that i look forward to taking it on my nightmare necros after Cauterise.

I... do kind of agree with your assessment on how much of a practical boost this is for most pet users, but keep it real instead of hyperbole :D

How would this work with Inner Demons summoned by solipsists? Do they take damage from my character, and if so, would this prodigy prevent that?

I definitely think allowing minions to shoot through allies would make this a useful prodigy. I think alchemists are the only summoners that don't have this problem, and they're less likely to get the 6 party members required.

Necromancers are absolutely famous for having skeletal mages shoot them in the back, and summoners in hallways quickly find that they can only really USE one summons at a time, and that their Ritch Flamespitter is next to useless.

I think being able to summon through other friendlies would be a bit to powerful, and only useful for Summoners. Necromancers can already do this (in a somewhat uncontrolled and limited way), but summoners would be able to summon friendlies in many more tactical locations (though still not as many as if they could summon through enemies).

Nah, that puts the friendly fire on your Nightfall spells. It says nothing about meteors.

This is just a stat that stops friendly fire (Fun fact, it can also be increased slightly by luck).
