More Bestial Races

#1 Post by The Minotaur »

I think it'd be interesting if there were more races that changed the game like Skeletons and Ghouls do. More inhuman appearances, different starting zones, and negative reactions in towns. It'd be really interesting to play as Trolls, Ogres, Minotaurs, or Nagas, and have equipment restrictions or be unable to even communicate with most towns.

Amusing suggestion, especially considering your alias :P

Anyway, quip aside, naga and troll campaigns are (or at least were, at one point) planned for some point in the future, so there's that. I don't think T4 even has ogres, but that's not much of a barrier, really. Minotaurs don't really seem to have a notable culture in T4, but considering the trolls that are intended for PC status are ones off in the distance, so to speak, there's not really anything conceptually stopping someone from cooking up a minotaur race and sticking it on an island off in who-knows-where. Or, farportals being, some other world. T4 totally has RIFTS level possibilities when it comes right down to it, fluff wise.

And, beyond that, we have addons! You could code some. Heavy impact race addons are still kinda' lacking (Do we even have any besides wights?), so there's plenty of conceptual space for someone with a little ambition to plug idea holes.

My alias being the minotaur actually has nothing to do with minotaurs originally. It was actually from a round of SS13 as a rogue AI. And I'm actually trying to make a minotaur race addon myself, but I also think it'd be cool to see more race diversity in the base game. I basically play as skeletons half the time, just because they feel different from humans in a significant way.

I was actually looking through the lore today and noticed that the minotaurs have a very strange and ambiguous origin. Just something about time mages being locked away. If that is not a big enough open for a new race, or even a new quest line, I don't know what is.

P***ed off rogue Temporal Wardens, from outside the edge of time, on the way :) Point zero might even figure in. There, someone run with that.
Currently playing under the name Aura of the Dawn 4 down, 227 to go!
