Diggers

Make diggers usable without equipping them into tool slot.

Right now you cannot dig while there are enemies nearby, so 3 turn cooldown after equipping digger does not affect anything, but quality of life.

..or better yet: screw diggers altogether (they feel like another 'band leftover, anyway) and replace with charms of pulverizing or something.

Tooth of Mouth and the Dwarf pickaxe could be changed to exotic-type weaponry. Lets face it: no-one really uses them for passive bonuses (exept for maybe very early-game Tooth), now with all the handy randart charms around.

I...definitely do use both of them and they have fine niches as equipment.

Wouldn't have any problem with diggers being usable while not equipped though.

Yep, shouldn't write in such a hurry. The "no-one really uses" in my post should of course read "I don't really use". Sorry.

And yes, using diggers form the inventory is also a good solution. Less hassle.

Except that diggers in the inventory would have to have their stats reduced.
Which would then make them rather uninteresting.

Yeah digging really needs to be changed. It really doesn't fit well with the game. Takes X turns to dig is really tedious.

I see no problem with making digging an activated item ability on the pickaxe, it opens up more tactical possibilities in combat. Having the digging be temporary could be an interesting ability, and open up the possibility of collapsing tunnels on enemies.
