Some stone warden talent suggestions

#1 Post by belmarduk »

I've been playing around with Stone Wardens a bit and I love the class and concept, but I have some feedback suggestions:

Spell/Deeprock feels awful, honestly. Like a low-rent version of Rampage. Volcanic Rock and Boulder Rock have too little information in their descriptions so it's hard to tell if it's worth the investment of points. I feel like it should be an either-or proposition with Wild-Gift/Dwarven Nature. Maybe make each tree a little better and have it so the two talents share a cooldown. I also think this should not be a locked category at creation. Earthen Vines or Spell/Earth might be a better choice as a locked talent tree.

Wild-Gift/Dwarven Nature feels awesome but the crystalline half seems to hit me pretty often with it's earthen missiles. This is fine for necromancer pets because skeletal mages make up a relatively light number of your retinue, whereas the crystalline half is always going to spawn when you hit the button and if you're not anal about positioning you will almost always take damage when it's up. It's abilities should pass through the player if possible, if not maybe give him different abilities? Considering an entire tree is built around these pets, I feel like one of the pets damaging you makes it not worth a point investment until late, when you have sufficient physical resistance. As I said in spell/deeprock, I feel like these talents should be either/or - you're embracing one facet of your dwarven nature, so maybe make the tree a little better and lock cooldowns with spell/deeprock.

Earthen Vines is basically a 5/1/1/1 tree right now. I think it would be useful to add additional benefits to the other three talents in the tree and take some away from the first. It's an amazing tree but there is really no good reason to invest hugely in it... Maybe have each talent point in the tree increase mindpower and/or nature or physical resistance ala gloom or wyrmic talents?
