Roguelike death option

#1 Post by neuq »

What do people think of having the option to 'downgrade' a character from roguelike to exploration / adventure mode upon death, thus letting you keep playing with that character? Maybe remove the character from the vault also or whatever. Dunno, just throwing it out there. :)

Well, at that point, you aren't actually playing 'roguelike' mode, are you? You're playing "let's pretend it's roguelike mode unless you really want to keep your character" mode. If you want to keep going after death, play on Adventurer.
<Ferret> The Spellblaze was like a nuclear disaster apparently: ammo became the "real" currency.

I usually go the other way. At the start of Dreadfell, I usually pseudo-upgrade all of my (adventure mode) characters to Roguelike, and abandon them if they die. This lets me play around at the start and get a feel for the character without needing to reach level 20 another half dozen times.
