Add an insatiable style talent to Combat training!

#1 Post by SomeGirl »

Since insatiable is pretty much an epic ego for melee classes who use stamina, equilibrium, hate or positive energy, I feel that we should fold that into the generic Combat Training tree in some sort of lesser powered version. It shouldn't be as good as the ego, but it should be a sustain that costs either max HP or combat speed, so it's not just a fire and forget. Even with talents like Relaxed Shot and Deep Breath, I still find myself starved for stamina in combat, and some minor amount per kill is really not that useful, being able to reward my using skills with more resources would open the combat of the game up to me.

I disagree. Simply resting in-between engagements is a perfectly usable way of regaining stamina even if you're only gaining 0.10 stamina per turn. The stamina regeneration boosts are only useful during long, sustained battles, and (in my humble opinion) those battles SHOULD be hard to deal with. Either because of a special challenge in a level, or because of a major tactical mistake.

I cant really tell exactly at the moment, but if you dont skill and equip specifically for stamina regen you are dry in no time and the enemy (boss) is still alive. And at least half of your escape possiblities depend on stamina too, so good luck evading that boss while regenerating.

Other Fixes:
-more uniques with stamina regen ( is there even a single one yet? ) / better stamina regen egos
-Stamina Regeneration Infusion as counterpart to the Mana Regeneration rune
-More class skills restoring stamina
-items get a better version of Second Wind as ability with moderate cooldown
-Reduce Stamina costs.

Of course the danger lies in adding too much Stamina regeneration, although that amount is probably far past 20/turn.

Adrenaline Surge will be available to Berserkers, Bulwarks, and Marauders next beta and the talent tree will be learnable from warrior escorts.

Though generally I should note that I disagree with this logic. Stamina isn't like other resources, being dry on stamina isn't like being dry on mana. You can bump attack things to death and you should be using your stamina based talents strategically and not every time they're up. Playing stamina classes like a game of talent based whack-a-mole doesn't work, that works for mages (especially beam mages) because that's the only way they do damage. In other words, stamina isn't meant to be a resource you burn through without thought.

I didn't use insatiable on my ghoul bulwark and I did just fine on stamina all the way into Dreadfell. I had to pay attention to my stamina bar and I used the feathersteel amulet for a few encounters (weirdling beast for instance) and I even ran out of stamina a few times. But I didn't feel like I had no options just because my brown bar was empty.
