This talent is a huge pain for short-ranged classes, and there aren't many ways of dealing with it. It can't miss, it's instant, the range is huge, it can be thrown over crowds, the knockback is preposterous, and it hurts like hell. Even if it were a projectile, you wouldn't be able to dodge it, because it hits a 3x3 square. Hell, I think the cooldown is shorter than the distance one has to walk at full knockback.
I'd say nerf the knockback and require a clear line-of-sight for throwing the boulders. Snow giant boulder throwers are more dangerous than any other type of snow giant for this very reason.

If they were slow projectiles, they'd be definetely dodgeable. Also, being hit by the 'explosion' should do significantly less damage than being struck squarely(and perhaps no knockback?)

Make them projectiles, I think.
Purely physical thrown-object attacks like that should always be projectiles. If you want the giants to instantly cause blasts of destruction at long range, make them casters.

Agreed, I think they should be projectiles, but I don't think they need to be slow. Giants are strong, and it's not like the boulders are flying magically.
I also recommend having a minimum range of 2 for throwing boulders. They hit themselves pretty often when you're adjacent to them (since they're dumb ai). Perhaps give them another talent "Boulder Drop" that they can use when an enemy is adjacent to them, which would pin/stun/whatever.

Would the knockback issues be a good enough excuse to necro this thread?
Making it a 3x3 projectile - as in regular projectile that 'explodes' for physical, so a direct hit deals the most damage - would keep them dangerous while also making them less weird and more manageable.
