The Bearscape
You stand in a field of bears, the beasts prancing back and forth like cave-spawned berry bushes rustling in the wind. They lick your feet, your skin, your face, and nuzzle you in fuzzy shapes which tear at your heartstrings. Crazed thoughts of honey fill your mind. This is Ursquilath they tell you, the Bearscape, and you have no rightful place here.
In the distance you see looming, bear-like shapes of ultimate furriness, towering above the feral land like guardians of nature. The sky is blue, but above your head hangs a round world that you recognise as Eyal. Across the fruited plains gather armies of forest critters, and glowing eyes turn up with timid curiosity to your home world. As the cuteness overcomes your senses your only thought is of escape.
The Bearscape is unlocked after defeating Norgos one-hundred times, unlocking the achievement "Bear of a time." Henceforth, Norgos will attempt to cast Bearscape, which teleports the target and the user to the aforementioned plane. The Bearscape is a land of pure horror. Woodland critters stare at you from great, towering oaks in the shapes of giant bears, and the ground is made of pure honey which reduces movement speed by 20%, except for bears, whom it heals.
I think this will help with the balance issues we've all experienced with Norgos. Clearly someone dropped the ball.

Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: The Bearscape
You know the very instant I saw this I immediately thought.... "ooooh BEER-scape"
"you stand in a field of hops...."
"you stand in a field of hops...."
Re: The Bearscape
I've personally reserved that idea for a special campaign, Elkan.

*weeps with delight*
It's just... so beautiful!

Re: The Bearscape
Fantastic. All it needs it the Envirobear somehow showing up as a boss, perhaps driving a cart somehow...
Re: The Bearscape
What no Smokey reference?
Re: The Bearscape
YES (even though that bear is missing a vanilla belt)!
Winning isn't... interesting.
Re: The Bearscape
I can bear this no longer. Must. Have. Bearscape.
Re: The Bearscape
New guaranteed drop for Norgos, so long as he is killed while in the Bearscape.
Code: Select all
newEntity{ base = "BASE_LEATHER_BELT",
power_source = {technique=true},
unique = true,
name = "Norgos's Girdle",
unided_name = "honey-stained girdle",
desc = [[You can't believe that you bothered pulling this thing off of Norgos.]],
color = colors.LIGHT_YELLOW,
material_level = 1,
wielder = {
},
}
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).
Re: The Bearscape
This looks like a reasonable way to balance him.
Re: The Bearscape
Where's Hetdegon these days? He was desigining something very much akin to Bearscape: The Game.
EDIT: Hmmm, now I recall DG and edge (with the monsters) were responsible for The Deep Bellow. When you consider how bloody odd and scary that place is, though, the Bearscape doesn't look all that unlikely.

Re: The Bearscape
And for those who play in the Easy mode, Norgos would get replaced by Paddington.
Re: The Bearscape
Indeed. And honey trees will spawn Pooh bears and bees.marchewka wrote:And for those who play in the Easy mode, Norgos would get replaced by Paddington.

Re: The Bearscape
How dare you forget he made the Arena too! :twisted: :DNagyhal wrote:Where's Hetdegon these days?

When you consider that Het is the fellow responsible for The Deep Bellow, you realize this isn't actually that unlikely.
