Starting Con score doesn't affect starting hit points. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature so I'm posting this in ideas. Racial Hit Die doesn't seem to effect starting hit points either.

Anyway, I feel that they should. A 10 Con Nandor (9 racial hit die) shouldn't start with the same hit points as a 17 Con Ghoul (14 racial hit die).

I'm pretty sure that right now starting hit points are simply class life per level (hit die) times 10. But honestly this makes any racial points that go into con pretty much meaningless.

Maybe racial life per level + class life per level + (Con - 10) * 5 would be better. Overall it would give starting characters quite a bit more hit points and would increase survivability at low levels for most race/class combinations but I don't believe it would really be all that noticeable past the middle of the game.

For reference a Nandor Shadowblade would now start with 95 hit points (five less then he does now) and a Ghoul Shadowblade would start off at 155. Maybe that last number seems high but the Ghoul is the highest hit die/highest con race available so we're looking at the end of the spectrum. A Dwarven Shadowblade (our number 2 for highest racial hit die/con) comes in at 125 hit points starting off which is pretty reasonable in my opinion.

Also keep in mind that 2 of the Ghoul's Con above come from a talent yet still he starts with the same hit points as the Nandor.

I really think it should be changed, and your proposition sounds like a good start.
