Hey, does anybody who can run ToME from svn want to try auto-explore? Playtesting and feedback would be most welcome. Patch is attached, and the default keybinding for auto-explore is [shift]-A.
  • Does it ever break?
Does it ever behave oddly or not as you expect?
    How could it be improved?
When do you use auto-explore? (e.g., when first exploring a level, or after you've mostly explored it yourself)
How does it affect your experience of each level and the game in general?
    ...and so on.
Enjoy!

Edit: removed attachment. Use auto-explore in svn

Sounds fantastic although I do not run the svn. :D I hope it will be available in the next beta. :D

It probably will be!

I'd like to thank everyone for all the feedback and constructive comments in this thread and in IRC. It actually did make implementing it easier, and the overall enthusiasm for auto-explore was very motivating for me :-D !

I've never played a roguelike with auto-explore before, so I hope the behavior of this implementation comports to everyone's expectations. I'm sure this will become a very thoroughly tested feature, so suggestions and improvements are encouraged (with one rule, though: no complaining ;-) ).
