At this point, the topic has gotten onto alchemist rewards in general, enough so that I highly recommend that someone make an alchemist rewards topic so that DarkGod doesn't have to rummage through this for a semi-related topic. (If no one else wants to, I will after I have some settled thoughts for a new setup.)

I've vaguely noticed some of the same issues myself, though I think that limiting Class/Generic point gains would be kinda depressing; I'd much rather see the point gains spread out, with every potion granting one Class or Generic in addition to a secondary reward(On average, you get three or four potions, so this comes out the same spot, with a maximum of five being possible if you're very lucky and not very picky about your potions, which seems fair enough considering that it's hard to rely on which of the points you'd get-Class or Generic-in that situation. And people would get screwed out of specific Focus/Foundations potions less.).

Don't forget the original topic, guys! We've had like a 15 post discussion on just Lifebinding Emerald! If there's any other ideas you think are good/bad here, please chime in.
