archmage generic skills

#1 Post by Gwai »

archmages are not exactly short on skills they can use. Still, now that two Musts, sense and identify, are gone, I find that there are very few things my young archmage wanted to put her generic points into. Maybe one of the class skills could be considered more generic?

Staff combat(which alchemists start with) is also generic, and would fit, although I'm not sure it would be particularly useful.

What have you currently used as generics ?
I tend to pump arcane eye as soon as possible, then some vision and premonition. It gets useful fast :)

Zonk: I dont think an archmage would have much use for that
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

[tome] phantomfrettchen: your ability not to tease anyone is simply stunning ;)

True, although it does 'fit' thematically with being a mage. I guess if you were crazy and wanted to play a mage who actually fought in melee sometimes

Well, I used to pump phase door fast, but now that it's (rightly) nerfed, I don't put more than one point into it and wait for teleport. Similarly I'm less into Keen Senses though it may be good and tend to try to take that see in the dark one from the repentant thieves. Similarly now that one starts out with regeneration and wild, the spell regeneration isn't worth much at all. I haven't even been using healing as much.

True the Nature tree could support a little buffing :)

Keen Senses is quite neat when you get higher level

In that case, don't forget Nature's Touch ;)
