A few UI suggestions

#1 Post by Pyros »

Small stuff that bothered me after playing a bunch so figured I'd make a suggestion post.

First is the tooltips of monsters. Too often, they're too big to fit on the screen, and the scrolling down thing takes forever. I'd like a button to instantly scroll, or an option to set the scrolling delay or something of the sort. It's really really frustrating to have to wait ~5seconds to see if your debuffs are still on or what range exactly the monster is at(with diagonals distance being somewhat annoying to eyeball when you're at like 6 or 7range). Even with the flavor text off(with plenum tooltips), it's still common for a monster to have half a dozen of sustains if it's a randboss, as well as a bunch of temporary beneficial effects, pushing the debuffs things out(and range, although this is often less of an issue).

Second one is a simple change, switch the buttons position in the Tannen's Fearscape exit prompt. Currently, it says "Stay" on the left, "Leave" on the right, but for most other prompts it's the opposite(dark crypt/godfeaster/ambush prompts for example). I'm used to it now it's just somewhat weird.

Finally I wouldn't mind a way to transmog items with a shortcut key, rather than via the menu. Could be a direct key(press Y to transmog currently selected item) or a combo of key with ctrl/shift(not sure how that'd interact with keyboard play though, like if ctrl+shift+enter would register properly or not). Sometimes getting rid of a bunch of stuff at once is annoying. Can use vendors for it but for how often I transmog random stuff once I replace them or what not, I wouldn't mind not having to go through the menus.

Oh and not related but please make Tinker recipes not loot after you already have them(like lore) or make them weight 0, it sucks losing weight over time and having to dump them constantly at a vendor to keep your weight. Alternatively once you have them learned, just make them appear as normal looted items in the transmog window so you can just transmog them instantly instead. If the gold is an issue I'd still rather not loot them at all.

[sound F/X: source diving] …Interesting. Apparently you're supposed to be able to scroll manually in tooltips via <Ctrl-Up> and <Ctrl-Down>, and <Ctrl-Home> and <Ctrl-End> to scroll to top/bottom (though I think the former has been hijacked for "center character on screen"). I've only tested it in inventory dialogs, whose own key handling apparently takes precedence, but on the game map it might work.

If you're willing to use a hotkey, it would probably work to drag the transmo chest onto the hotkeys toolbar like any other activatable item.

Now, there I can help.

Ctrl End does work, not sure if it's plenum tooltips or core but that's good enough for me, thanks wouldn't have guessed that one. The other keys only work if you unbind them, since they're by default assigned to Center on player(home) and Attack up/down for these keys, but unbinding them also makes the shortcuts work(the scrolling is slow as hell with up and down but still it works). Thanks for that.

On the transmog, I don't mean a button to transmog everything that's in the transmog chest, that's done automatically at the end of a floor anyway, I mean to transmog stuff that's already in my inventory, like swap gear I don't need anymore or gear I replace, or stuff I looted maybe for a specific occasion but don't need anymore and so on. Basically I'd want to be able to check my inventory, see that I don't need the water breathing helm anymore for example and just press a key with it selected to transmog, instead of having to right click > transmog item(or the same with a keyboard). It's mostly because when I clean up my stuff I have several items to transmog and it's annoying to have to go through the menu everytime(and sometimes click link item instead). It's not the end of the world and wouldn't save that much time, but if it could be done easily it wouldn't be a bad option. You'd still have the prompt asking to confirm if you messed up, the key could be unbound by default to prevent new players messing up with it, or it could be an addon that'd work too.

For tinker recipes yeah I guess there's an addon, I just feel it's something that should probably be included in the base game, it's very weird how it's done currently. It's like having lore notes in your inventory and weighting 0.1 so you'd have to clean them up every now and then, while serving no purpose at all.
