More staffs that you can actually hit things with
Right now, hitting things with staffs is only useful for going all in on proc damage, or doing something gimmicky like trying to use the Staff of Bones 100% darkness damage conversion. The only staff that does appreciable damage when just hitting stuff with it is Bolbum's. I think it would be fun if there were more options that allowed more builds to use staffs as weapons. One way to address this could be to do something about the fact that randart staffs always have 80% magic modifier, which is super low for a 2h weapon. Maybe there could be an ego that increases this %, or scales with another stat like str or something?

Agreed. And Bolbum's should have physical crit chance added to it. It's kind of ridiculous that the purpose-built melee staff has only spell crit, meanwhile any magewarrior ego staff you find is going to have phys crit.

I propose a solution inside Staff Combat, replacing Defensive Posture. Either passive or a sustain akin to Psiblades.
-Your equipped Staff now has added MAG modifier based on talent level (either that or DEX). It goes up to at least 20% when maxed.
-Your equipped staff has added crit chance based on your Accuracy and talent level. Similar to Precise Strikes without the combat speed reduction I guess, but lower.
-At level 5, anything that involves hitting something with your staff and uses Physical Power a now uses the highest of Spellpower or Physical Power instead.
Obviously this pairs well with Arcane Might, though the level 5 thing would be moot with that.

This also seems like a reasonable approach. Afterall, psiblades works pretty well for mindstars.Chronosplit wrote:I propose a solution inside Staff Combat, replacing Defensive Posture. Either passive or a sustain akin to Psiblades.
