Gladiator evolution for Bulwark

#1 Post by SDY »

Class Evolution, Bulwark

“Gladiator”

Unlock: As Bulwark, achieve “XXX the Destroyer” in Arena mode.

Core Concept: Variety of thematic weapon options to add flavor to an otherwise bland class.

Core Mechanics: Gains one of three trees and the associated “minor” prodigy.

Option #1: Salt Gladiator (Str, @1.2)

Prodigy - Legacy of the Naloren - No spit poison or water breathing, Slasul still gives trident (maybe a weaker version?). Taking the actual prodigy does not give more points in exotic weapon mastery.

1. Trident specialization - passive, tridents can be used in one hand with a 25-0% penalty like Ogrewielding but based on talent level instead of size.
2. Throw net - active, attempts to throw a net at enemy. While netted enemy has a 20-100 defense penalty, can’t move, and has a 10-50% global speed penalty.
3. Throw trident - active, with trident equipped attacks an enemy in range 4-8 with a ranged melee attack that does 150-250% damage and disarms the gladiator for 2 turns. No cooldown, but can’t be used when disarmed.
4. Polearm - active, with trident equipped attacks an enemy up to one additional space away for 100-140% weapon damage, potentially pinning them. No cooldown, no cost. Also passively adds a “set for charge” debuff for one turn to any enemy that moves adjacent to you when you haven’t moved for at least one turn. That debuff increases damage taken by 20-80%.

Option #2: Blood Gladiator (Str, @1.2)

Prodigy: Flexible Combat - only a 20% chance. Taking the normal prodigy as well just improves the chance to that of the normal prodigy.

1. Cestus - passive, acts as weapon specialization for unarmed but only with metal gauntlets (used with shield). Additionally, melee attacks have a 25-100% chance to inflict bleeding for 20-40% of the damage of the original attack.
2. Spiked Shield - passive, Shield hits also add flat physical bleed damage when used with talents. At talent level 3, blocked melee hits automatically provoke a shield attack (that can proc flexible combat). At talent level 5, the first enemy that hits the Gladiator in melee each turn is also hit by a shield attack, regardless of blocking.
3. Blood Frenzy - passive, Flexible combat’s chance goes up to 35-55% if the target is bleeding.
4. Double Smash - active, makes two barehanded attacks for 130-170% damage that cannot proc flexible combat. The first can inflict stun, the second can inflict daze. The target has -100% stun and daze resistance if bleeding.

Option #3: Steel Gladiator (Str, @1.2)

Prodigy: Eternal Guard - still gives infinite retaliation, but no duration bonus. The prodigy can still be taken for the duration bonus.

1. Shield Mastery. Passive, acts as a typical weapon mastery but with shield. Also decreases block cooldown by 1 per 2 talent levels.
2. Vigilance: Sustain, adds 5-15% of block value as passive damage reduction on all attacks. Sustain ends if disarmed.
3. Shield at ready - active, instant, goes into blocking mode. Cooldown is 20, reduced by 2 per talent level.
4. Shield Smash - Active, hit enemy with shield for 200-350% shield damage. Passively, Melee attacks that don’t use another skill automatically strike with both mainhand weapon and shield.
