Cursed... Gloom Mindpower problem

#1 Post by Delmuir »

Basically, Cursed doesn't have enough mindpower to make the Gloom effective, which is disappointing as it is a core skill of the class. Unfortunately, if you make it super powerful then you have another problem entirely so... I offer up some ideas:

1. Cursed Aura has a few terrible curse effects but Madness is the most useless to me as the Cursed doesn't really have a lot of skills that need a cool down reduction.

So, its 4th power "Mania" should be changed to improving mindpower solely for the Gloom effect.

2. Have the new Predator skills increase mindpower, again, solely for the Gloom effect, based on enemy type.

3. Add a mindpower bonus to the Stalk skill for that enemy specifically.

This way, you can build up mindpower for the Gloom broadly, then the enemy type, and finally the specific enemy.

Thoughts?

Mindstars are possible on cursed... but i get the problem. I really like playing Stone Warden and they have similar issues.

Not sure I'm having the same issues. My recent dwarf cursed ended the game with 115 effective mindpower, not even using psiblades. Taking Superpower as one of your prodigies contributes a huge amount to mindpower if you're not already doing that, and the bonuses from gloom tend to be enough for earlygame before reaching your first prodigy.

I find this only to be true on Normal. On Normal, Cursed are murderously strong in my opinion, though a little slow to start. It's the higher difficulties that are a problem, at least in my opinion, as there isn't even really a way to make them better... whatever, thanks for the feedback.
