Demon Statues

Currently demon statues are mostly lore artifacts, you have a demon statue, when you touch it, you get some lore and there's a low chance of a medium level demon attacking you, as well as a low chance to gain an artifact. The most likely results are getting debuffed or buffed for a short amount of time: something that most likely not bother you. This leads to them being mostly cosmetic, since even when you touch 10 demon statues it's still not terribly likely that you will get anything decent out of it.

In the chat before we had discussed a couple solutions to this:
Making the buffs and debuffs more significant, like a buff for a whole dungeon while making the detrimental status effects you get deadly enough that without purging them you'd die.
There is of course always the option of summing units. One of the things that annoys me a little that we have all those different demon statues... but they all do the same. Wouldn't it be fun if demon statues were more likely to summon the actual demon it represents? An Imp Statue summoning several imps would be a normal thing to fight, but a statue of a greater demon would start giving people a pause.

Any other ideas?

I concur that they need some more meaning.

Other things to consider:

1. Each statue does something unique and permanent, but minor. Things like +1 Str, -1 Wil, or a permanent +1% to a resistance cap.
2. Each statue has a chance to give a specific item if it gives an item.
3. Each statue gives a passive effect to the area around it after activation.
4. New unique items added that are powered up by interacting with statues.
