Ogre tinker

#1 Post by ghostbuster »

Most ogre talents are useless when using tinkers.
Precisely: Grisly has an impact on the medical injectors strength, but neither Scar-Scripted Flesh, nor Writ large has any impact on the cooldown of salves.
This makes tinker a bad choice for ogres as it ruins half your abilities.
Why? It restrains the choice for the user, while it would make sense that ogre talents also have an impact on tinker inscriptions (and it does for the contribution of stats on the inscription).

PS: BTW, it has already be signalled in this forum, but why salves do not trigger on_heal effects, while it should according to the code?

Ogres and injectors are already both very powerful, though. I am not sure the game needs to encourage people to combine the two. And lore-wise it makes sense that injectors would be a bad choice for ogres, since they're dependent on magic to hold their bodies together (in theory, my understanding is that an ogre who for some insane reason replaced all their runes with injectors and steam tanks would die in the long run, the same way, lore-wise, Antimagic Ogres die in the long run.)

In that respect, Injectors being a bad choice for Ogres seems similar to Undead being unable to use Infusions.

I guess you could argue that Ogres could find some sort of way to use Injectors to sustain themselves as a replacement for runes? But I don't think it's really a given. And again, lore-wise their affinity for runes has no reason to extend to injectors. (Although to be fair, it has no reason to extend to infusions, either.)

And yes, lore matters. I mean if it was something that could seriously ruin the game, obviously the lore could be rewritten around it the way I suggested above, but I don't see how it's necessary here.
