Move Blighted Summoning Prodigy to Willpower or Cunning

#1 Post by Facesofmu »

Hiyas,
Love playing Wilder/Summoner, but hitting lvl 30 and 42 makes me disappointed I have to put any points into Magic to get this prodigy (and there's not any other that seems pertinent to this class, IMO). I'd like to request the next update swaps Blighted Summoning into the other two prodigy lists, maybe Cunning preferred over Willpower for great access to classes.
Thoughts?

It's actually a good thing it requires 50 Mag because it prevents you from accidentally taking it and making your summons worse. For example, Drain on Ritch Flamespitter is a DPS loss and War Hound doesn't have the spellpower to make Curse of Defenselessness do anything other than waste a turn.
My wiki page, which contains a guide and resource compilation and class tier list.

Sounds like it needs to be fixed for those summons rather than still be an annoyance to achieve, stats-wise?

blighted summoning is still a pretty bad prodigy, even for a minion-based necromancer
to make it good, make it give magic to wild-summons and necrotic minions equal to twice your magic, and increase the magic given to a summon when it critsummons
also make it give that bonus magic to all other summons that aren't temporal hounds or alchemist golems

Zeyphor, is critsummoning a thing that can normally happen?
Using Magic for this prodigy is terrible for Summoners, Oozemancers, and Solipsists. It's really only synergistic with Necros and Temporal Wardens. Using Willpower or Cunning as the unlock criteria makes much more sense for all these classes.

Anyone playing those classes can, if they wanted to for whatever bizarre reason, are deathly afraid of making magic their third stat, and had enough +magic item swaps to get up to 50 magic, shuffle their equipment around to take it. That's not what the problem here is. The problem is that the prodigy is giving the summons spellpower related things to do and the only thing it does to make up for the fact that the summons have crappy spellpower is to give them your magic stat. Making Blighted Summoning require Willpower or Cunning to unlock fixes absolutely nothing and just makes it an even bigger trap for the mindpower-based summon classes.

Nevermind that it's okay for prodigies to encourage niche stat builds so long as said prodigies are actually worth having, which this one isn't.

Ignore that, I just found out what you meant by giving them spellpower talents...

Still, solvable with a "summons have spellpower equal to your spellpower or x% of your willpower/cunning, whichever is higher".

Not completely. You aren't seeing a summoner use staffs or spellpower items really.
