A quickly drawn up suggestion for making these more cost effective for the player.
Curses and Hexes (as one category)
Curses: passive. Grants and improves Curses.
Grants Curses based on effective talent level.
1: Curse of Defenselessness.
3: Curse of Impotence.
5: Curse of Death.
7: Curse of Vulnerability.
Hexes: passive. Grants and improves Hexes.
Grants Hexes based on effective talent level.
1: Pacification Hex.
3: Burning Hex.
5: Empathic Hex.
7: Domination Hex.
Countershock: passive. Whenever an enemy attempts to inflict a detrimental magical effect on you, you retaliate with a cross tier Spellshock attempt.
Also increases spell save.
Curse Mastery: passive. Increases your effective Spellpower for the purposes of inflicting magical debuffs.
Also decreases the cooldown on Curses and Hexes.

Re: Curses/Hexes Compaction
Not really a fan of stuff requiring effective level 7. Defiler classes aren't generic hungry enough to need them to be merged into one category anyway. I'd rather just see the less useful ones buffed a little (Curse of Defenselessness and Emphatic Hex mostly).
My wiki page, which contains a guide and resource compilation and class tier list.
Re: Curses/Hexes Compaction
I'm not terribly sure about the order and level sevens, I'd rather just make a pass over curses/hexes themselves.
Re: Curses/Hexes Compaction
I think compacting Curses/Hexes could work if you made a new generic tree for Corruptors. As it is Corruptors are already a bit starved for places to put points what with Torment being kinda bad. Maybe that should be buffed too. But yeah the weaker curses/hexes should be buffed.
Re: Curses/Hexes Compaction
DERP!
For some reason I was thinking that effective talent level 7.5 is standard for 5 points. XD
Was not intending for some to be locked behind a category point.
Also, I'm not sure gating with effective level is a good idea when granting subtalents.
Gosh my head is a mess.

Re: Curses/Hexes Compaction
The costs of these talents should also be addressed. They seem too expensive to use in any but the hardest of fights.
