Move camera when off-screen enemies are spotted

#1 Post by Effigy »

This is just a convenience thing, but it would be a nice quality of life improvement. Currently, auto-explore ends when your character spots an enemy, but the enemy may be off the edge of your screen. You then have to check the minimap and Shift+drag the camera around to see the enemy. It would be better if the camera automatically repositioned to show the newly sighted enemy, as long as your own character can also be seen from the new camera position. If there are multiple enemies visible, the camera could reposition to show the greatest number of them.

"check the minimap and Shift+drag the camera around to see the enemy. "
or rightclick the red dot.

Wouldn't reducing tile size via options solve that issue? I've always found the default value too high.

Why not just an "enemies in sight" list with a red arrow pointing in the general direction?

That works too, but my goal is to limit the need to mouse navigation. I prefer to use the keyboard but it's not convenient to reposition the camera with the keyboard.

i believe pressing the "." activates some targeting thing that does nothing. you can then press the arrow in the direction enemy is supposed to be (if you can read) and see it that way. no mouse involved.
