giving regen (vim, equi ..) to certain talent

#1 Post by ooli »

Seems like Darkgod is all about streamlined game-play. No grinding, no repetitive task. That probably what make this game so good.

Equilibrium Regeneration

If you don't have the Meditation Tree you can still do it. Except it is super cumbersome.

[*]Antimagic: With 1 point in Resolve you can hit yourself to regen your equi.

EDIT: Contrary to my belief, Leech for Vim and Nature equilibrium don't regenerate your resources if you are the target. So it basically boil down to positive /negative energy.

[*]Mindstrar Mastery: With 1 point in Nature's equilibrium, you can hit yourself and heal yourself for equilibrium

The 2 tree can be accesses by any class (in zigur). Class that may not come with Meditation, and may benefit from those tree if equilibrium regen was not so complicated.
Can we give Equi Regen to Resolve and Nature's equilibrium when NO enemy are around?

Vim

[*]Vim: WRONG (Once you get Leech and you have a weapon with + element damage you can out-regenerate the 25 vim cost of Vimsense when you're on your own.) Just tested you cannot regenerate Vim. Nor with leech or with Drain, if you target yourself. Cool (guess i need to test with Equilibrium Mindstrar mastery too)

Those two resources are straightforward cause they don't decrease on their own. So you can take time to hit yourself and regen, then go to your everyday bashing with a full resource bar.
So why not give those talent a natural regen ?[/size]

Positive / Negative Energy

[*]Light : You can auto-cast any talent in the tree to be full for the next encounter
[*]Star fury : With twilight surge you can get a full negative energy bar

The drawback to the manual regen is that you put those talent in cool-down for when you're facing opponent.
But you can recast them till you're full and wait for the cool-down to wears of, and then continue exploring if you don't want to get them on cool-down during encounter.

Basically you can always be at (Max - cooldown*decrease_rate ) .. Just super boring to achieve manually.
But it make sense for those talents to give a max % like Twilight do.

I don't know much about Hate, and it seems less crucial to get that above 50%.

The major problem with giving regeneration option to those resource is that we lose a bit of flavor.

I'm pretty firmly of the opinion that vim should be the resource that you can't regenerate outside of combat. Otherwise why not just roll it into mana? I'd prefer for Leech not to work on damage that's caused by yourself.

For the other resources I wouldn't mind them regenerating - although hate should stop doing so at 50% in any case.

Positive / Negative could be tweaked for anorithil so that they can start a fight at full ressource without really changing the gameplay. As you said, everyone uses autocasts to achieve that anyway.

The flavor of the ressource will still be present by what you need to do to keep it filled in somewhat prolonged fights or after a manaclash.

Other ones I don't care.
