Forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse, or if the issue has long been settled on IRC or something.

In 1.2, the staff accuracy bonus got reduced from 4.0 to a 2.5 percent increase in proc damage. I don't know why it's still there at all.

As far as I can tell, the bonus has two possible outcomes:

--) For non-arcane blades, it's window dressing.
--) For arcane blades, it's disgustingly powerful and makes staves the dominant weapon choice, and key to the class's playstyle at higher difficulty levels.

The first outcome is at best neutral and the second is bad. The first kind of defeats the purpose of weapon accuracy bonuses at all; the second eliminates otherwise interesting strategic choices, disproportionately benefits counterintuitive and gimmicky builds, and encourages bad play habits (mainly scumming shops for shortstaves). Before the proc damage bonus, staves were already viable weapons for arcane blades, since they boosted your spell procs and saved you from putting points into Strength, but their comparative lack of offensive punch made traditional weapons worth using, too. Better to change the staff accuracy bonus to crit damage or something, or just drop it entirely, and thereby preserve the parity with mindstars.

Am I missing something? If not, why hasn't this changed?
