Improve Storm Fury

#1 Post by donkatsu »

There is no class that can use Storm Fury effectively. It's a very weak staff and a bow with useless bonuses glued together. Even Temporal Wardens, the only magical archers, have better options. Instead of being half a staff and half a bow, make it both a competent staff AND bow combined. It won't be overpowered because no one can use all of its features.

-Bump its lightning damage from 20% to 30%. The generic do-everything t5 staff, Tarelion, has 30%. Why is the niche option weaker within its own niche?
-Bump spellpower from 20 to 30.
-Add 10% spell crit.
-Change its automatic lightning bolt from (40 + Mag*1.5) to (100 + Mag). Less Magic scaling to make it useful for archers too. They only have one other t5 artifact bow as is, and with their low spellpower the lightning daze isn't going to daze anything dangerous anyway.
-Bump movespeed from 10% to 25%. Helps archers with their new reload mechanic.

Nullpack's Storm Warden likes that bow quite a bit.
Check out my addons: Nullpack (classes), Null Tweaks (items & talents), and New Gems fork.

Yes, that is very nice, but there shouldn't be a useless artifact in the main game that is only useful for an add-on class.

tell that to prox's halfling foot. Fate classes are the only ones that ever cared about that thing, beyond that its just your ticket to angolwen.

With that stun prevention? I make use of it on anything that isn't halfling.

IIRC it had a secret bonus which was made non-secret.

(Secret bonuses are basically the game author's way of telling you to go read more spoilers.)

In this case, secret bonuses were the game's way of not having a field for passive bonuses, because artifact craziness in design outstripped DarkGod's expectations.

The only bonuses that aren't immediately obvious these days are thematic class/race bonuses. And those are fine because you can't just change your class or race to suit them. :)

They would be fine if they showed when examined by the appropriate race or class rather than when being worn by the appropriate race or class. As it is they're still hidden from the player. It would be a little less bad if it was at least noted in the field used to note sets, but still not ideal.
