Mobility Removed - Light Armour Training Moving

#1 Post by Fortescue »

Hail friends!
Good news, in a patch coming to a PC near you anyone who has Combat Training will be able to learn the talent formerly known as Mobile Defense under the new name Light Armour Training. In addition to current effects, it will also improve movement speed! Wooo! This is what PureQuestion and Shibari want to happen anyway, so there is a pretty good chance it will.

Marauder and Brawler are both losing Mobility the moment Light Armour Training becomes a Combat Training passive, in all likelihood. That change will probably hit the same time Shibari's Brawler revamp goes live. This is fine because the rest of Mobility was pretty lackluster anyway, and Strider's move speed is being built into the new Light Armour Training.

edit: removed a bunch of stuff that needs a lot more work before I talk about it again.

Vault is too similar to Switch Places. What was wrong with Hack'n'Back?

Cunning Roll looks fine.

Evasive Movement seems like a more complicated version of Evasion.

Not sure why you are removing the cooldown reduction from Strider for Disengage, Rush or Evasion.

First I was like what the eff, Evasive Movements needs a nerf bat. Then I read the stamina cost part and was like what the eff, lower the cost.
High cost for awesome talent, just like it's supposed be but % cost seems somehow a bit off. Partly because no other skill requires % cost and partly because high stamina really doesn't do anything for that skill.
Don't have any better suggestions for the skill though.
Brigand Brigade: summons x members of your gang to attack your opponents, taunting them and generally acting like pricks before ninja vanishing x turns later.

Why? Because you're the boss, thats why! 8)
Will Marauders be rewarded with moustaches and striped pants too? :p
Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

Evasive Movement looks complicated to use. Maybe it could work more like lighting run with % chance to avoid any attack by instant move to near tile. If there are no free tiles then evasion always fails.

Skirmisher isn't going to have Dirty Fighting, but I guess Rogue still will, so that might be too many escapes of the same general type on one character.

I am the least happy with Evasive Movement it out of all of these and couldn't come up with a better sustain before I went to bed last night :[

Strider is becoming contained within the Category assuming that it and the Mobility Category even survives in some form or another. As of right now Mobility could just vanish from the game entirely the moment Mobile Defense is stripped from it.

--------------------------------------------------------

Your comment brings up a good point though: that Rogues already have a few sources of Mobility style stuff available through Dirty Fighting and Field Control. It is becoming clearer to me that Mobility as we know it today is just going to go away entirely. It doesn't need saving since the classes that use it right now won't need it at all soon. A new category using this name might show up months from now, and it will likely be a Class Category for a new class, ensuring it has absolutely nothing at all to do with the old Mobility.

Sorry for bumping a somewhat old thread but I agree with HousePet and PureQuestion and I really don't think Hack'N'Back should be removed. Betraying Sun Paladin escorts will need to give a new category and talents if Mobility is being removed. I can't really think of anything particularly good to replace mobility for the escort except maybe Scoundrel (Nimble Movements and Misdirection learnable) or Thuggery (Skullcracker and Vicious Strikes learnable) but I don't think either are great choices.

For those missing the reference above:

Acrobatics - Fight or Flight? Flight Obviously! (for Rogues)

Url link leads to the new category where this all went.

I'm at least a fan of replacing the sun pally betrayal skills. Not liking magic doesn't mean I necessarily want to hit things in melee.

I actually found Hack'N'Back useful on pretty much all non-magic characters since Mindstars tended to hit often enough for me to hit and disengage for a turn. The other three Mobility talents suck but I like Hack'N'Back.

Meh. Lose 1 OK skill to get 4 class agnostic good ones is a fine trade imo.
