Enable players to send escortees

Change the stay command to the escortees. Instead of just letting them stay where they're, enable players to designate a place in a radius of 3~5 tiles from the escortees for them to go, let escortees go to the tile and stay there till the command expires.

So they'd have a "Stay", "Where is the Portal" and "Wait in this safe spot" command? I love it!

Anything that gives you more control over the escorts is a good change in my book.
