Option to change difficulty on death

Option to change difficulty on death
It would be nice if death gave you the option to change your difficulty to a lower difficulty. IE: I've used my last life, give me the option to change my difficulty to a lower lever, that has more lives and keep playing.

Re: Option to change difficulty on death
This's already been discussed. Hope that thread gives you insight on the arguments for and against that.
Re: Option to change difficulty on death
Talk about a landmine discussion. Sounds like it also needs a option to allow the option to be used!

Nah, that thread just settled that nightmare/insane/madness need adventure mode achievements. Which haven't been added yet.
Part of the reason you shouldn't be able to drop down, is that anything below adventure (exploration) is donator only, and teaches bad habits to boot. (Really. Just never play explorer.)
As for roguelike, it's there for the folks who really WANT a special challenge. The game is balanced around adventure mode as it is, though some characters have a harder/easier start.

Currently playing under the name Aura of the Dawn 4 down, 227 to go!

Re: Option to change difficulty on death
Something I thought of since the last thread, which would be nice...
One Level Do-Over Mode
- When you die, you're dead. Period.
- However, the Eidolon is interested in the player's education, so he'll offer two "visions of an alternate past".
- Choose either option as many times as you'd like, but if you ever leave the level, instead of actually leaving you just go back to being dead.
1: "Send me back again!" - return where you were when you died.
2: "Send me farther back!" - reset the level to its state when you first entered.
For either option, no achievements will be recorded.
This is purely for the player to go over his strategy until he's happy with it, and then start a new game which will hopefully be more successful.
