Presently it is possible to autouse talents. Why not allow to autouse items ?
It probably does not make sense for most items, but for some it would be useful.
Auto-using the burning star while no foe is visible would be great!

I don't think coding this is a show stopper. It's mostly about coming up with a consistent interface for every item.
So if the item was named "Widget", the game would create a talent called "Use Widget" that would check that the item is equipped/in inventory and would then go through the normal steps for item use, including checking charges, performing targeting, etc.
Once that is done, the normal talent interface could be used including autouse, confirm use, etc..
